I finally got my Pre, and I love it!!! I have posted config info for connecting to Exchange on my work FAQ site – leave me a comment with your DoD work email address for the link.

Need to get my Pre going…

Got my Pre and the WebOS update 1.0.3. Still can’t get it configured for ako. Can you help? Do I have to be on Beta Mail or can it work IMAPing through traditional Web Mail? I’m going nuts here. If I see that date and time error for the SSL cert one more time I think I will loose my mind. Thanks for any help.

I don’t believe that AKO supports the Pre. You can configure it for Beta mail (if you are on the system). I will email you tomorrow with information.

That’s what I was afraid of. Getting into Beta is a huge ordeal. No clear method for enrollment out there. Do you have to be on a direct CONUS server or can you be a regular web user? I love the pre – just wish it would link into my military needs. Thanks for any and all efforts you can extend, and for the quick response. I will definately bookmark you for future questions I have on mobile/smart devices.

I just sent you an email from my Army account with where you can find information about joining the program. Bottom line – anyone who has an AKO mailbox can become a member of the Beta program.

I am reading this comment and I just bought a pre as well. Can I get these instructions that you sent. Also, I think its cool that you posted this. I am in the USAR in CA

I am on vacation right now… back next Monday. I will get the information to you then.

I already was sent a notification to agree to terms of the program and agreed. Hopefully hear something back soon. Can you send me the Beta settings for the Pre for when I get switched? Again, can’t thank you enough for the help.

Thanks for everything. Originally when I set it up I went off the directions from another blog and all I was getting was the outbox. Based off the link you sent me I realized I needed the owa in the prefix for the server and viola – everything populated. It works beyond my expectations. Thanks again for everything. By the way I was trying to give suggestions to another soldier having issues on the AKO forums and an AKO Postmaster jumped in to say that standard AKO Webmail works with the Pre with the certs. I think he hasn’t tried it himself. Because it doesn’t. I tried for over a week. Wish they would put out proper info instead of sending people on a wild goose chase.

tim, nevermind my request. after I read a pre blog on their site all the directions were there. The last blog stated that the beta program recognized a bug in exchange 2010 and that we should stay on exchange 2007. I just set it up so we will see how it goes in a day or so.

i have had my palm pixi set up and working for some time now. recently it is unable to access my ako email. have there been changes to the ako system that are preventing me from getting my email? i have never been enrolled in the beta program, i just followed the instructions posted on the precentral forum at this link: . grateful for any insight/input.

    • Tim Smeltzer says:

Charles, I do not know if AKO changed anything (the Beta Mail program is not affiliated with them). You can try calling the AKO HelpDesk and asking if they still support IMAP and if so what the correct settings are for accessing AKO mail that way.
